Entrepreneurship as a career opportunity
The DST-UoH-Technology Enabling Centre (DST-UoH-TEC) successfully conducted a workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship as a Career Opportunity’ at the Zakir Hussain Lecture Hall Complex, University of Hyderabad on 18th August, 2023. The workshop was designed to inculcate and nurture entrepreneurial skills among its diverse participants comprising students, research scholars, young scientists and faculty members. The workshop brought together illustrious speakers from academia and the startup ecosystem to provide insights into a spectrum of topics including innovation, entrepreneurship, funding, business models, inspirational founders, and more. Prof. G.S. Prasad, Director TIE-U and Coordinator of DST-UoH-TEC, Dr. Nandita Sethi, founder of The Entrepreneur Zone (TEZ), Ms Mili Kataria the founder of Pandora’s Box, and Dr. B.S. Ramakrishna, CEO of Technology Business Incubator (TBI), UoH talked about funding opportunities available for start ups and strategies to adopt for successful entrepreneurship journey.
Benefits of Intellectual Property Creation and Management for Academia and Startups
DST-UoH – Technology Enabling Centre has conducted a workshop on “Benefits of Intellectual Property Creation and Management for Academia and Startups” 7th July 2023 at Zakir Hussain Lecture Hall Complex, University of Hyderabad. Around 80 scientists, faculty, research scholars and students are actively participated in this workshop. Prof. G.S.Prasad, Director, TIE-U and Coordinator, Technology Enabling Centre has given the workshop’s genesis and highlighted the importance of the workshop. He informed the audience that in future more workshop on IPR will be organized. Prof. Samrat L. Sabat explained about the need of holding such workshops and their benefits for researchers. Dr. Subhajit Saha (Resolute Group) and Mr. J. Naresh Kumar (K&S Partners) explained importance of IPR in start up companies.
DST Conclave-2023
The DST-Technology Enabling Centre at the University of Hyderabad (DST-UoH-TEC) organized a 2-day TEC-Conclave-2023 on the 17th and 18th of April 2023. This conclave is intended to review the progress of TECs created by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, in 22 universities spanning across the nation. The Coordinators and Co-coordinators of all the TECs attended the conclave and there were about 50 participants in the meeting. Expert Advisory Group members under the chairmanship of Prof. NS Vyas (IIT Kanpur) and members Prof. K. Sankaran (Anna University), Dr. Sudha Mysore) ICAR-IIHR), Dr. Devi Prasad (NITI Aayog), Dr. Anita Aggarwal and Dr. Krishna Kanth Pulicherla (DST) Dr. Sanjay Kumar (CSIR-NML) and Utpal Bora (IIT-Guwahati) reviewed the progress. All the phase-I TECs presented their progress highlighting the achievements that included IPR generated, technology mining, consultancy projects, industrial collaborations etc.
Brainstorming Session- Current Trends in Manufacturing encompassing Surface Engineering
The DST-UoH-TEC conducted a brainstorming session on “Current Trends in Manufacturing, Encompassing Surface Engineering” at UoH, Hyderabad on 28th of March 2023 by an expert panel. Prof. Dr.-Ing. VVSS Srikanth (SEST, UoH) and a member of Expert Advisory Committee (EAC). Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMT), DST, GoI organized and coordinated the above-mentioned session. The meeting was attended by 9 external members and 3 internal members experts on the topic. Honorary speakers from IIT-H, BITS Pilani, Hyderabad, DMRL, Hyderabad, NIT Warangel, along with other members attended the event and discussed the current trends in surface engineering. Dr. R. Vijay, ARCI, Hyderabad opened the session with overview on current trends in manufacturing encompassing surface engineering, which was further led by Prof. P. Eshwaraiah, GITAM University, Hyderabad. He highlighted the opportunities and challenges in digital manufacturing in terms of surface engineering. Later speakers from pronounced institutions spoke about defect analysis, surface integrity, innovative technologies in biomedical, energy, and chemical engineering applications.
ASPIRE Workshop- Building Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Universities: Opportunities & Challenges
In collaboration of ASPIRE-BioNEST, TIDE, and TBI, DST UoH-TEC organized 2-days workshop on ‘Building Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Universities: Opportunities & Challenges’ on 03th– 04th February, 2023. The event mainly focussed on building entrepreneurial ecosystem to nurture innovations and technology based enterprises. Dr. S. Chandrasekhar, Secretary, DST, GoI, Smt. S. Aparna, Secretary, Dept. of Pharmaceuticals, GoI, and Dr. Krishna Ella Bharat Biotech International Ltd. were among many other speakers to address need of innovations and role of academics in nurturing innovative entrepreneurs. Prof. T. Ramasami former Secretary DST, emphasized the importance of incarnating the concept of nurturing start-up ecosystem in higher education system. Furthermore, Shri Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, Dr. Anita Gupta, Head, NSTEDB, DST, GoI, and Dr. Manish Diwan, BIRAC/ DBT, GoI delivered effective notes to the audience on funding opportunities available for the start-ups and MSMEs.
